City of Franklin Planning Special Census in 2008
The City of Franklin will be conducting a Special Census in 2008. Census cards will be mailed to every household in Franklin the week of January 7th. Once the card is received, residents are asked to complete and return the card in the postage-paid envelope prior to January 18th. Residents will again be able to visit the city’s website to complete a form online rather than mailing it.
Although the City conducted a Special Census in 2006, officials believe the current population could be higher than the results of that Special Census (49,412). Improved population numbers help to plan for future services and can also mean an increase in the City’s state-shared revenues. Cities are allowed to conduct up to three Special Censuses during the ten years between the Federal Census.
Census cards are due before January 18th. Every household that does not respond either by mail or online will be visited by a census taker to collect the necessary information from that address. Click here to complete the census.
