McLEMORE HOUSE AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM

McLemore House

Built in 1880, the McLemore House was the home of an ex-slave and successful farmer, Harvey McLemore, and his descendents for 117 years and throughout five generations. This museum chronicles the struggles, triumphs, and important contributions of African Americans in Williamson County and Franklin. It is the oldest remaining African American home in Franklin.

The museum offers tours by reservation only and is located on the corner of Glass Street and 11th Avenue in Franklin. Contact the Williamson County Convention & Visitors Bureau or Mary Mills at (615) 794-2270 for more information.
