HISTORY:

CompostSite1In 2007, the City of Franklin Compost Facility – located on Incinerator Road – began processing the leaves collected from curbside by the Streets Department and the bagged yard waste collected by the Solid Waste Department into compost.

Not only has this waste-reduction process resulted in a substantial savings to the City in landfill and haulage fees, this compost – a valuable soil amendment - is also used in City storm water, erosion control, and landscaping projects and is applied as a top-dressing for City athletic fields.
