Franklin is recognized as a leader among communities across Tennessee and the greater region, but the Community and City Staff identified opportunities that could propel Franklin to become a leader on the national stage.  In 2008 over 250 members of the community volunteered their time and efforts to develop a vision for our city.  By the Summer of 2009, the community driven process culminated in the release of The Sustainable Community Action Plan.  Similarly, City Staff put together a Municipal Action Plan to help strengthen local government operations.  These corresponding plans work together and provide a roadmap to Franklin's long-term success and viability.

The Sustainability Plans are living documents that are in constant use and the Sustainability Commission is incrementally bringing the action items foward.  The idea is to push initiatives and policies that make sense for Franklin and are good for our long-term future.
