Deputy Chief Bruce Bateman joined the Franklin Police Department in 1986 after serving four years with the Memphis Police Department. He has been promoted through the ranks to his present position as Deputy Chief over Criminal Investigations.
Deputy Chief Bateman is a graduate of Troy (AL) University and the prestigious FBI National Academy. He is a member of the FBI National Academy Alumni Association, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, and the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. Deputy Chief Bateman is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Cool Springs.

The Criminal Investigations Division, comprised of 20 sworn law enforcement officers, has three sections: Major Crimes, Special Victims, and Vice and Narcotics - all committed to providing citizens with prompt, diligent, and proactive investigations.
Specially trained personnel accomplish this by maximizing the use of traditional investigative techniques in combination with the most current technological resources available. The Division works closely with the Franklin Police Department’s Operations and Administration Divisions, as well as other local, State, and Federal law enforcement partners.
