The City of Franklin Fire Department is an all-career department with only full-time firefighter positions.
Franklin Firefighter requirements
Work a 24-hours-on/48-hours-off shift (average 56 hours per week)
Must live within a 45-minute drive of Franklin Fire Department Headquarters within six months of employment
May be subject to call-back 24 hours a day
High school diploma or GED
21 years of age
Ability to work under stressful and dangerous conditions
Active EMT Basic (minimum) license required, active Paramedic license preferred. Firefighters may be required to enroll in Paramedic school within three years of employment or other specified time period. Tuition and books are paid for by the department.
Valid Tennessee driver's license and a record free from habitual use of drugs or intoxicants, felony convictions and misdemeanors involving dishonesty or false statements.
Applicants will be pre-screened for training, education and experience.
Applicants must score 63 or higher on the written test, which is a general knowledge test that individuals can pass with no firefighting experience.
As a condition of employment with the City of Franklin Fire Department, all firefighters must attend and successfully complete the Franklin Fire Academy's recruit training program as specified by the Franklin Fire Department.
