Project Description: In 2014, the City started the design of the Hwy 96E Sidewalk project along Murfreesboro Road (SR-96), from Pinkerton Park to the multiuse trail at Mack Hatcher Parkway (SR-397).  Approximately 1,500 feet of sidewalk already exists along the corridor, leaving about 4,000 feet of sidewalk remaining to be constructed as a part of this project.  On 2/19/2015 and 3/4/2015 a public hearing was held to obtain feedback from the local residents and the general public.  The project was well supported by the residents with the majority of people in favor of the project.  At the May 26, 2015 Board of Mayor and Alderman work session, city staff was directed to change the scope of work to incorporate a 10’ wide multiuse trail along SR96E.  This change was based on public feedback received at the public hearings.  The sidewalk is proposed to be 10 feet wide, with ADA compliant ramps and crosswalks at all cross streets.  Once complete, residents and visitors in the area of the project would be able to safely walk along Murfreesboro Road (SR-96) to downtown Franklin, Pinkerton Park, Commercial/Retail area along SR96 or the recently completed multiuse trail along Mack Hatcher Parkway (SR-397).

Length & Limits: Pinkerton Park to Mack Hatcher Parkway
