Delta Company
America Supporting Americans is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization which began in 1967 when Linda Patterson convinced her hometown of San Mateo, CA t o adopt her brother Joe’s unit that was serving in Vietnam. When Joe found out about the adoption, he believed it would build morale “as high as the clouds”. Tragically, Joe was killed in a firefight a few weeks after the adoption. Linda has continued her mission of joining military units with communities across the country and helping to build morale as high as the clouds.
The mission of the organization is to link together military units that are based on U.S. soil or deployed world-wide with civilian groups and communities that wish to express their support of these young men and women serving in our armed forces.
In November 2004, the City of Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen passed a resolution officially adopting the soldiers of Delta Company (1/327th 101st Airborne Division).
The purpose of the adoption is to support the soldiers and their families. Several of the local schools have gotten involved by writing to the soldiers and sponsoring their children at Christmas.
One of our goals is to have every one of the Delta Company soldiers to be sponsored by a family or an organization so that each soldier will receive at least one letter a week while they are deployed.
