Hours of Curfew

• 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM: Sunday night through Thursday night.
• 12:00 AM - 5:00 AM: Friday night and Saturday night.

What is a curfew violation?

• When any minor remains in a public place or establishment during curfew hours.
  • Establishment - (means any privately-owned place of business operated for a profit to which the public is invited, including but not limited to any place for amusement or entertainment.)
  • Public place - (means any place to which the public or a substantial group of the public has access, and includes but is not limited to streets, highways, sidewalks, bridges, alleys, plazas, parks, driveways, parking lots, and the common areas of schools, hospitals, apartment houses, office buildings, transport facilities, and shops.)
• When the owner or operator of an establishment allows a minor to remain on the premises of an establishment during curfew hours.
• When a parent or guardian allows a minor to violate the curfew law.

Who does the law effect?
Any minor, parent, guardian, or establishment.

Who is a minor?
Any person under 18 years of age.

Where does this law apply?
Anywhere in the City of Franklin.

Who is a parent?
A natural, adoptive, or step-parent of a minor.

Who is a guardian?
Any person or agency, private or public, with whom the mior has been placed by the court.

Are there exceptions?
Yes. Accompanied by a parent or guardian; employment; emergencies; specific written or oral permission of a parent or guardian; official school or religious activities are some of the exceptions.
